When I finished my third glass, I (without hesitation) painted my face green and joined a group of accursed poets, libertines, occultists, ceremonial magicians, bohemians, and all who were living a life outside and against society on a larger-than-life bicycle odyssey through the Place Pigalle in honour of The Green Fairy.

I walked with a zombie. (Laughs a little, self consciously) It does seem like an odd thing to say. Had anyone said that to me a year ago, I'm not at all sure I would have known what a Zombie was. I might have had some notion -- that they were strange and frightening, and perhaps a little funny. But I have walked with a Zombie. It all began in such an ordinary way ? I have myself a bit of a problem. I?m the cemetery caretaker and embalmer in a small town. I live in a ramshackle house on the premises, constantly surrounded by death, where the corpses are crawling back out of their graves after spending a mere week or so in the ground. As you can imagine, that's something of a nuisance, but if I report it to the authorities, I?m certain of one thing -- they'll shut down the cemetery to investigate, and I will be out of a job. Can you imagine being surrounded by death with only a clumsy and deformed retard for company?

However, being the opposite of the diurnal human lifestyle, I am one who habitually stays up and is active late into the night. Night is often associated with danger and evil, because of the psychological connection of night's all-encompassing darkness to the fear of the unknown and darkness? obstruction of a major sensory system (the sense of sight). Criminals, animals, and other potential dangers can be concealed by darkness. The belief in magic often includes the idea that magic and magicians are more powerful at night. Similarly, mythical and folkloric creatures as vampires, and werewolves are thought to be more active at night. Ghosts are believed to wander around almost exclusively during nighttime. In almost all cultures, there exist stories and legends warning of the dangers of nighttime. In fact, the Saxons called the darkness of night the 'death mist'. Like F. Scott Fitzgerald once wrote, "In a real dark night of the soul it is always three o'clock in the morning." I do have a zombie survival and defense plan, as I?ve been killing off those brain hungry reanimated corpses for some time now. Let?s just say, ?I always keep a bullet for myself.?

Now when I?m not defending my town from zombies, I am probably getting involved in the weird, the puzzling, the ill conceived, the unclassifiable, the stuff you never dreamed existed. I play board games backwards and play scrabble without using real words. I make sock puppets and if I?m feeling more creative than usual, I?ll cut out photos and paste them on Popsicle sticks and have a puppet show. Sometimes I like to strut like Coco the Clown for a day and talk only in famous catchphrases from movies and other days I throw around an invisible ball and see if I can get people to join me in a game of catch. When I'm active late into the night, I play flash light tag in a crowded place. Every now and then, I like to sneak into a golf course in the middle of the night to play golf...using night vision goggles. If I'm looking for danger and evil I will play a morbid game of croquet in the cemetery using flashlights or walk through an old graveyard during the morning hours. On occasion, I go to grocery stores not to shop, but to have a cabbage-kicking contest (if I kick a head of slaw through the automatic doors I will howl "goal!" all the way to the back of a police cruiser), shopping cart races, and bowl with pineapples as bowling pins and cantaloupe for bowling balls.

Living a disillusioned, dissolute, hedonistic lifestyle of flaming youth and the lost generation, I find myself always wandering about the city in a beret (like Hemingway and Dos Passos did), drinking absinthe, having affairs, spending time at cafes, and basically finding no lasting satisfaction in anything. In conjunction to my wandering, I?ve been known to stalk the streets with my green umbrella, and wearing my Victorian cyclist's garb and carrying two pistols; continuing to live as if I were about to die. I am a flaneur of decadence accidentally launched in this inartistic time we live in. I have a deep nostalgia for both the past and future, which is why I am looked upon as a twenty-first century schizoid man living in my own pataphysical world now. Constantly attacking the consumerism and social indifference of contemporary urban life, I?ve explored the metaphysics of the lost generation?the ritualised, almost religious practice?that I consider analogous to my search for meaning and the essence of life.

I am looking for anything from a committed relationship to a surreal, non-committed romance. Maybe just an intellectual bond or just someone to pass time with. Maybe someone who will literally skip down the street with me, let me hold their hand and swing our arms high in the air or do the Peewee Herman dance on a table in a food court. Yes to all of it.
